7/18/13 A second-hand lesson in dealing with a smoking neighbor Washington Post David Schuman, a shareholder in the Greenbelt Homes Cooperative, claimed that his neighbor’s smoke invaded his apartment, in violation of the cooperative’s rule that no nuisance was permitted.
7/5/13 Greenbelt secondhand smoke case ends, but leaves door open to similar litigation Gazette.net The Maryland Special Appeals Court filed an opinion June 27 that upheld a Prince George’s County Circuit Court decision against plaintiff David Schuman, who sued Greenbelt Homes Inc. and his neighbors, finding Schuman was not entitled to damages for the neighbors’ secondhand smoke.

11/3/11 Secondhand Smoke Ruling May Set Precedent
Greenbelt Patch - Maryland    Northrop noted if he had ruled in favor of Schuman the case would set the precedent for action on secondhand smoke claims not just for condominiums and townhomes, but also single-family homes.
7/11/12 Greenbelt community to vote on smoking ban option Washington Post Greenbelt Homes Inc., a cooperative that owns about 1,600 row houses in historic Greenbelt, is considering a rule that would allow residents to ban smoking in the properties if all of those living in a row of four to five homes are in agreement.
